The title says lit all. I'm going there Friday; what's good? And, do they serve cocktails?
Thanx

  1. Ummm.... make sure they're open. They just had a fire in the kitchen a few days ago.

The Allen st. location was closed on monday but Congee bowery is open.

I walked past by tonight and Its up and running. =)

    2. They have great peapod greens w/garlic in broth; house special chicken and two taste flounder are also very tasty.

      1. Oh no, really sorry to hear about fire!

What to order: salt & pepper squid is great, and I love the congee w lobster & ginger (tho it may be a bit hot out for congee)

        1. you're probably not veggie- but if i recall correctly, i wasn't so fond of the mushroom and bean curd dish i had there....

          1. This is one of my fave Chinese restaurants in Manhattan (Queens has the more authentic ones, I believe). Anyway, try the HOUSE SPECIAL CHICKEN (seriously, this is a MUST -- even if you order just this and some hot rice, you'll go home happy!), the BAKED RICE WITH DICED CHICKEN AND SALTED FISH (tastes much better than it sounds), SHORT RIBS WITH BLACK PEPPER SAUCE IN SIZZLING PLATE, FLOUDER FILLET IN TWO TASTES, and CLAMS WITH BLACK BEAN SAUCE. enjoy!

            1. Try the Thai Style clam dish. It's wonderful; sour, spicy, full of yummy broth and juicy clams.

I've never had cocktails there, but I do know they have a full bar. Also, they have a $10 corkage fee, which is pretty nice.

              1. Roast Duck and Meat Ball Congee or Chicken w/black mushroom Congee. Sauteed razor clams in black bean sauce are amazing.

                1. go with lots of people so you can order it all!
                  -Black Pepper Scallops
-Walnut Shrimp (lightly fried shrimp, crispy walnuts, broccoli)
                  -Dried Scallop Congee
-Crab Congee (comes with the crab - finger-eating fun)
                  -chinese greens with garlic
                  -pea shoots!

                  1. braised pork belly with either dried vegetables or yams. you can't go wrong with either
