Back from Santa Barbara
I read the reviews on the board and picked my restaurants accordingly...
Our favorite meal was Downey's. Everything was superb and so fresh. I started with the tomato salad, then the halibut with a lemon cream type of sauce, a third cheese course (do it) and then finally a peach ice cream dessert in strawberry sauce. Each course was amazing.
La Super Rica was great. The lines move fast and the food was pretty good and very inexpensive. My only issue was that I wish someone had mentioned that the portions were small. Order multiple things if you go. Perfect spot for lunch.
Cava in Montecito was a walk-in. I really liked the atmosphere of the town and the place. The portions were large and the food was good but didn't stand out like the other places.
Ca'Dario was very good. The food was excellent, but the night we ate there the service was a little slow...
Overall there are many great restaurants in Santa Barbara -- Enjoy!
Thanks for the report. Haven't thought about Cava in years. "Everyone" goes to Lucky's in this part of Montecito (Coast Village Road) to be seen or hope to see and eat food. Best casual dining on this strip is Montecito Cafe. And Trattoria Mollie still pulls them in and can erratically be great ... and pricey
