Pretzel bread anywhere in Des Moines?

reubensandperrier Jul 31, 2007 08:15 AM

I'm a big pretzel bread lover and miss the loaves I could get at my local bakery in Chicago. Are there any bakeries in DM that carry pretzel bread loaves, rolls, buns, etc?

I've never tried it but I think I've seen it at the Target in Ankeny recently.

Haha really!? For some reason, that makes me laugh that after all my bakery scouting and foofoo place hunting, Target would have it. The would be ultimate Chowhound style.

Yeah. Weird, huh. I was going to look for it myself but I haven't been back since I saw your post. I'm curious about the stuff now.

I'm gonna give them a call today and see if they have it. My search continues!

They do indeed stock something called a "Pretzel Boule" at SuperTarget. I picked up a loaf yesterday.

Could you make a sandwich on them?

Sliced, yes. They're about a 6" boule. Much larger than say, a hamburger bun.
