Cayucos for Labor Day Weekend. What's Good?
2 families with young kids going for the long weekend. We like everything that can accommodate kids, all ethnicities, sea food, good breakfasts (good hashbrowns). Already know we are going to Hoppe's (just the adults). Morrow Bay is a little too touristy so unless you know of something excellent... Would be happy to go into San Luis Obispo too. Thank you in advance!!!

Last weekend a friend and I hiked the newly opened Point Buchon Trail just south of Montana de Oro State Park - it has spectacular views of ocean rocks, caves and arches. We built up a good appetite after hiking. So we went to the 10th Street Grill in Los Osos in time for their early bird specials. Fresh sea bass and fresh ocean salmom were two of the evening's specials. We ordered one of each and they were moist and tasty. For $15 each our dinners were a bargain and the service was very good. It's a small neighborhood restaurant with a cozy '70's era redwood interior. Glad I went hiking, and out to dinner, with a local friend who knew of this hidden gem.

(805) 528-2011The Bayside Cafe inside Morro Bay State Park is another fun, casual, restaurant. It has a kid friendly outside patio looking out over the back bay.
Taco Temple in Morro Bay is one of my favorites for fresh seafood tacos.
Tognazini's, on the water front in Morro Bay, serves very fresh seafood. Their wharf side fish market does take out too.

re: Fru
That particular hike might be a little tough for under 8 but the bluff trail at MdO is easy and quite spectacular. There are lots of trails around that park to any level.
If the kids are in better shape you can take them to the top of Oats Peak. 1300 feet or so but on a clear day you get great 360 degree views.

re: Bruce in SLO
i know this is a little late in the game, but i do want to make mention of the fact that i discovered The Little Market on a recent drive-thru up highway 1. i was fortunate enough to be there on saturday when they were grilling lamb over a wood fire. the sandwich i had, with a mint yogurt sauce, was divine. i also sampled two other sandwiches - including an awesome grilled-vegetable panini. these were not ordinary sandwiches.
this place is a treasure and a true find for foodies traveling between la and san francisco.
