ISO Recommendations for VT's Northeast Kingdom

I'll be staying in Craftsbury Common this weekend and am looking for suggestions of where to eat in the Northeast Kingdom.

  1. Highland Lodge in Greensboro VT is a quite nice place to eat (and the people who run it are very nice), but it is not super fancy.

If you don't mind driving over to Danville, I really like the Creamery Restaurant. Always consistent. The Maple Cream Pie is to die for.

I lived in the Kingdom for four years and have several recommendations. If you're looking for four-star dining, the Rabbit Hill Inn, east of St. Johnsbury, is superb (my wife and I once had three desserts becuase we couldn't choose!). In St. Johnsbury, Elements has creative entrees and good wines. North of Lyndonville is the River Garden Cafe, very good and with reasonable prices. Just over the border in Littleton, NH, is the Littelton Diner, with homemade corned beef hash to die for. The Miss Lyndonville Diner is a landmark, as well, and breakfast there is filling and satisfying. Finally, up in Newport is Lago Trattoria--I've lived in many great cities and I'll stake Lago up against most of them. Enjoy!
