Firefly Grill, Effingham, IL

Had a "free" afternoon so decided to drive about 75 miles from Champaign and try out a new place I had heard about. FG is off 1-70, Exit 160, a few miles west of the interchange with I-57. Space is beautiful, old wood planks from barns make up the outside, with lots of glass, and the roof is corrugated tin I believe. New building. Feels like a restaurant in Chicago - beautiful space, though could get quite noisy. Had a nice salad, excellent homemade dressing, and a wonderful burger, super-fresh, cooked the way I liked it. Homemade strawberry shortcake from scratch was on the agenda for dessert. It's not cheap, but felt it was worth it. If you are near there heading to points south/north on I-57, or points east/west on 1-70, consider it. It's very near the interstate. Cheers!

  1. Hey, thanks for the heads-up. We generally pack our own food for our roadtrips to and from Chicago. Firefly Grill seems to have lots of vegetarian options, and could make a good stop for a special treat.
    Thanks, p.j.
