Went to Smokin' Joe's a new BBQ place replacing Seoul Garden on Washington street in Brighton Center. I really wanted to like this place because good BBQ in my neghborhood would be a dream come true. It was fair but doesn't challenge Blue Ribbon for BBQ of choice in the area. We had an appetizer of jalepeno poppers which were OK and a 1/3 rack of ribs with dirty rice and collards. The ribs were tender but lacked smoke (ironic considering the name of the place). The collards were tasteless but the dirty rice was quite good and the highlight of the meal. Beer was warm and salad a little wilted suggesting a refrigeration problem. Price for the small rib dinner was $10. They've just opened so they may still be working out the kinks. I'll try them again but not a hopeful start.

I just went too... We split the crab cakes and brisket sandwich. I thought the food was good (not great). Waitstaff was great. I will go back to try the ribs or pulled pork. They offer 6 different 'Q' sauces- all very sweet. I liked the hot... very gingery.

Hmmm, maybe I'll wait until they get things worked out (if they do). Did they just open this month? I haven't been to Brighton Center in a couple of months or so...

I think they've been open a couple of weeks. I should have mentioned, they have burnt ends, brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken and even a couple of seafood items among their entrees. It seems like too many things without a strong focus.
