Ok, I am just getting to know the area myself. We stayed at a Sheraton on Miami Beach and there was a place, Tower 41 which did pre-paid shabbat meals. It was a feast and delicious. It was in a condominium/apartment building. I have not been to the chinese restaurant in that hotel someone mentioned but I hear that is also good. (not sure if you consider chinese a nice restaurant...but thought to mention). If you could do a drive to Surfside, there are a few options - close to the Bal Harbor Mall - Cine Citta cafe, is a dairy italiam place that was great with nice atmosphere when we went. A while back I found this website from a shul - you'd have to check your own heckshers, but the phone numbers are furnished and you might find other venues on there too (http://www.beth-am.org/index2.cfm?pag...)

Sorry, but Tower 41 is pretty cruddy and so is the Chinese restaurant there.

Le Marais should be open any day now, on 41st street. It should immediately be the best place south of Surfside. For cheap eats, Pita Loca on 6th is very good.

I love The Gourmet Carrot on West Ave and 10th St. Don't be fooled by the name. It's a meat restaurant with several vegetarian options. The food is very good and the restaurant is pretty. If you'll be going at night, there's seating outside that's lovely. There's also Tea for Two on 17th st, one block North of Lincoln Rd. It's dairy and in my opinion has the best sushi in all of South Florida.
