Long Beach to San Jose roadtrip w/ kids

Soon we'll be embarking on a whirlwind road trip from Long Beach to San Jose with a 7 and 9 year old.. our ultimate destination.. the Winchester Mystery House.

We'll be making mini-stops to see odd sites:
- Santa Barbara (gigantic fig tree)
- Buellton (ostritch farm)
- Solvang.. maybe
- San Luis Obispo (bubblegum alley, Madonna Inn)
- Santa Cruz (Mystery Spot)

We need your top good-interesting-kid-friendly-not too expensive dining recommendations for:
spots along the 101 (from Santa Barbara to San Luis Obispo)
spots along the 1 (from San Luis Obispo to San Jose)

Heres's where we think we'll be for mealtimes, but will go out of our way for something outstanding:
Big Sur/Carmel/Monterey area - dinner
San Jose - breakfast, lunch, dinner
Morro Bay/Cambria - lunch
Santa Barbara area- dinner

Thanks!!

My kids (now 4 and 7) have eaten at and enjoyed these locations multiple times:

Santa Barbara - Palazzio on State Street....mmmmm...and kid friendly, too. Plus the plates are large enough for anyone to share, and while you're waiting there's endless delivery of garlicky bread balls (for lack of a better short description).

San Luis Obispo - Natural Cafe; or grab a bit in The Network (there's a sandwich place or a put-it-together-yourself noodle/ricebowl place) and sit out on the patio where you can enjoy music or just great weather while the kids eat then run down to play in the creek

Morro Bay - Taco Temple; or take a picnic to the park at the south end of the Embarcadero (how old are your kids?)

SLO - Tio Alberto's for top notch mexican fast food. (Right near bubblegum alley). Boston Bagel and Big Sky are right there too.

Cambria - Old Stone Station for seafood, salads, and sandwiches. Main St. Grill for burgers and bbq. Both are great lunch spots.
