Dining Alone - A Voce, Hearth, Craft, Gramercy Tavern?

I'm travelling to NY on business from California and have two nights of dining solo. Which of these restaurants have a bar area to eat at and are the menus at the bar the same as in the main dining room? Thanks.

  1. Gramercy Tavern has a Tavern Room with a bar. The Tavern Room has a separate menu from the main dining room. Hearth and A Voce have bars that have the same menu as the main dining room. I'm not sure about Craft.

Craft has the same menu at the bar (not to be confused with Craftbar, which is entirely separate).

    2. Hearth also has that bar-like counter with a few stools that overlook the kitchen, I've dined there solo on a couple of occasions when the wife's out on business. I've made a few friends there, with cooks and fellow diners, and since then almost always try to get those seats even when dining with the wife.

Agreed -- the counter is a great place to sit at Hearth.

      2. They actually all have bars to eat at with full menus. My favorite of the four would be Hearth if you can snag a seat at the pass. Craft I would vote against, as the concept makes it better to eat there with a group of people, and I was underwhelmed with A Voce's food.

        1. To add to what's already been said: An early dinner outside at A Voce is a great alternative to eating at a bar. Full menu. Pleasant patio. Quieter. And of course great food.

          1. I love the Gramercy Tavern for eating alone. They have a great pulled pork sandwich and usually have some sort of steak special that's fantastic
