Best Dessert in Tampa/Central FL?
Can anyone recommend great dessert/wine in the Tampa Bay area or maybe nearby Orlando? I'm thinking Valrhona chocolate and a nice port or fresh berries and zabayon- something in that league. Thanks!

I like Fifi's Patisserie downtown Orlando. Try their "liquid desserts" with your regular dessert. Yummy!

I know Bern's has been shot down a lot lately because of service, but in this circumstance I am recommending you skip dinner and go straight to the dessert room upstairs. There are many small rooms that are completely private, and some larger ones that are little more open. The desserts are all homemade on sight, my favorite if I can get someone to have it with me (minimum order is two) is their bananas foster which is cooked tableside. If I have to do just one for myself, even though I am a self proclaimed chocohalic, it is the banana cheese pie.
Okay enough about the desserts, berns has one of the best wine lists hands down in Tampa, Florida, if not the whole country. The last time I was there I had a flight of ports from all ages; 5yr, 10yr, 15yr, and a 20yr. Even if I am having port, I never pass on the Capachino(sp) bern's steak house style. If you have never had it, they soak their coffee beans in kahlua for a month before using them, it adds great flavor. The then float some cream on top with a sprinkle of ground coffee beans. On valentines day they somehow made them in the shape of a heart.
Enjoy!

There's a place in Palm Harbor (Pinellas County) called Massimo's http://www.massimosrestaurant.com/
I had a wine pairing dinner there once and what I remember most was his Chocolate Risotto! Well worth the drive -
