Anyone been to Charcoal in Hollywood?

  • 3

I had a burger with sweet potato fries and a gin and tonic. The place was pretty busy, but all three of my items were good.

  1. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's not enough for me to want to go back, though, because I hated it.

Thanks for the link. I do have to agree, there was a little problem with the service. I don't think it was our server, who was pretty nice and apologetic. I think the establishment doesn't staff enough servers, cos I saw mine moving around a lot, pretty busily, and a little overwrought, though pleasant with my party. I did not try all that many items. We all had burgers, but our server did mention that they came with sweet potato fries. I think the menu should say the same though, to avoid any possiblilty of confusion, or obligation on the servers to begin with.

I tried Charcoal for the first time last week and had a singularly unimpressive experience overall. We arrived at 9 p.m., when the place was only 2/3 full, yet we had to wait about 20 min. for a table. (A ploy to get us to buy drinks, perhaps?) Once we were seated it was at least 15 min. before a waiter paid us any attention. We then waited about 30 min. for very simple food: salad & burger. Bottom line: not at all worth the wait.
