Mission Pie for Dinner... [San Francisco]

I've not yet been over to Mission Pie, I heard they do some savory options...can anyone report on this and what the inside/seating/vibe is like in the evening?

  1. Their savory options are provided by another vendor and are prepackaged. I haven't tried them, but it looks like dessert pies are what to get there. Maybe a nearby taqueria prior to pie?

Yes, the savory pies are by Mystipies, a La Cocina-related business. I like them quite a bit when heated in an oven, but this is snack food, not a real dinner. Go for dessert...

    2. The seating/ vibe is a small cafe. No tableservice if that's the kind of dinner you're looking for. About 8 small tables tops. Reading material, community postings around.
I've only been there once early evening on a weekend. Staff I met were very friendly.

      1. Many years later I can report that Mission Pie has more than pie as savory supper. It was one of the few food businesses in the neighborhood open on January 1. I stopped by to get a couple pies of pie. Since Hoppin' John was one of the supper dishes, I decided to pick up dinner too. The place was crazy busy with a long wait to order and pick-up.
