I've been to Claim Jumper twice. Their food is just ok, I have yet to be impressed by it. But, I will second that their portions are HUMONGOUS. The desserts on the other hand are exquisite, they have a large selection of equally humongous portions. I had the ginger green tea creme brulee there once and it was great. So I say, meet for dessert and one will be enough to share for the whole table!

Claimjumper is a temple of big food (portions), but a lot of it is quite tasty. Prime rib on the bone is good, an order of BBQ beef ribs is massive. Steaks are decent. Salad bar is good, you can usually score some pasta salad with shrimp in it. Lots of choices on the menu. Big selection of beers, the bar food is good (shrimp taquitos are outstanding). Don't get suckered by the desserts, big (the motherload cake, if you take a slice home, needs a shoebox) but as in many big dessert items, loads of sugar, not much flavor, the motherload cake is usually dry, the humongous eclair is terrible. The fruit pies in a big bowl are not too bad.

I have a love-hate relationship with CJ. They have taken 5 of my favorite items off the menu. And these were things like Salmon Spring rolls and seared ahi rolls that were a step above the rest of their bar food. Some items are their menu are fabulous, while others are horrendous!! We haven't been in over a year, nothing seems to stand out on the menu.

re: Arthur
Three things I know about Claim Jumper:
1. Their portions are HUGE.
2. As the other poster said, it's actually pretty good (I like the salad bar).
3. If you don't care for such huge portions, they (at least in my neck of the woods) have a pretty decent Happy Hour in the bar, with some of the dinner items at half portion and half price.
Either that, or share!! : )
