Kosher Subway In Cedarhurst

jeterfan Jul 27, 2007 10:54 AM

I went to Subway in Cedarhurst. Here is my list of the pros & cons.

Pros- Good service, clean, "healthy" and regular choices, open early (10 AM), choice of portion size for heros, freshly baked heros

Cons- parking could present a problem (congested area), small store, the manager was accommodating for corporate coupons for "just this once (see below)."

I presented the manager with a coupon for buy one item, get a 2nd free ( if you also buy a 32 oz. beverage). He said that they normally don't honor the corporate coupons. Someone should check with the corporate office to see if the kosher Subways are contractually obligated to honor corporate coupons because they (kosher Subways) are listed on the Subway website as a franchise.

All in all, I thought the food was good for fast food. I think that overall, they offer more selection at cheaper prices than Burgers Bar. If this Subway can offer their products for lunch (like the non kosher Subways do in some public schools) to the local day schools at least once a week, they will "rake" it in.

Thanks for the report. BTW, kosherblog readers are reporting that there will be one in Boston and another in Baltimore coming soon.

I wonder how long it will take before one appears in Boro Park.

you think he did you a favor? I suspected this was not a "participating" Subway on the same cash register network, otherwise that coupon would not have been questioned at all. he simply would have swiped it into the register, and the store would automatically get credited for the sandwich plus a handling reimbursement by the Subway corporate office. I got a 241 pair of tuna melt subs in Queens with no problem from a less "holy" Subway store.

It cost about $10.00 (when I used the buy one hero get one free coupon) to buy 2 grilled chicken 6 inch heros + 1 32 oz drink.

Now all Cedarhurst needs is a place comparable to Smokey Joe's. I don't consider any of the existing establishments comparable to Smokey Joe's.

anyone have an inside scoop as to when the Baltimore subway will be opening? I'm going to an Orioles game in a couple weeks and would rather indulge there than at Camden Yards

I just love the posted comment from http://www.koshersubs.com/

.. The SUBWAY® restaurant chain is now growing into the Kosher marketplace with the addition of very successful SUBWAY® Kosher restaurants already opened in Cleveland, Brooklyn, and opening soon in Los Angeles, Cedarhurst, and Kansas. In the next year, SUBWAY® Kosher restaurants will be opening in 15 additional locations across North and South America ...

My name is Raul, i am the manager at this subway, we have been voted one of the cleanest subway, and serve quality meat and try ower best to keep to customers happy, parking is hard to find , but there is a parking lot around the corner. We have been open longer than any of the other glatt Kosher subways, n we dont validate normal subway coupons, its rare but we have some coupons out in the local paper.

Raul, the non-kosher Subways have a promotion for quite some time for a "foot long" for $5. You had a promotion for the same for $8, understandable since kosher costs more. The promotion ran for a short period of time. My question is that for quite some time the Kosher Subways on Ave J was selling the $8 footlong special, and still may be running the promotion while you stopped it a long time ago. Please bring back the $8 footlong special and I will return instead of going to Burger Bar next door.
