Cheap South Beach Recs for Vegetarian (esp. Cuban?)
Any recommendations for restaurants in South Beach that would be good for vegeterians and not too pricy (say no more than $15-20/entree, the lower the better, though a sit-down restaurant is desired!)? In particular, I'm looking for good cuban and/or other latin american food.
Thanks!

You could go to any Cuban restaurant on South Beach and request a platter of plantains, rice and beans. You have to be wary of Cuban restos that use lard. You may want to try Yuca on Lincoln Road- if memory serves, they have a dish called yuca rellena that is a wild mushroom picadillo. Hope that helps.

re: chocolada
correct about the plantains, rice and beans for vegetarians. some places call that combo a 'completa'
BUT, Yuca unfortunately won't match the OP's request for inexpensive.Pasha's isn't quite the sit down place requested, kind of an upscale Middle Eastern fast food place, but it will fit the bill on Lincoln Road
I think there's a Juice & Java around Lincoln Road as well - fresh juices, delicious salads and great brown rice with veg plate; a little spendy but w/in the price parameters, and worth it for the freshness of the ingredients

Cuban and Latin food are not really known for their vegetarian. Puerto Sagua does a nice fish soup. I cannot think of any dishes that may qualify as vegetarian on a Cuban menu...sorry. Vegetarian restaurants are few and far between in South Beach to begin with. Joe Allan's has a nice vegetarian stew.
