Nice restaurant in Portsmouth...?

In September, we're going to spend a Fri - Mon...driving up from Boston to Ogunquit/Kennebunkport and we'll certainly hit a good number of local seafood jaunts, lobster shacks, etc. On our last night (Mon.), we'll be staying overnight at Wentworth-by-the-Sea before our flight out of Boston on Tues. I'm thinking that by Monday, we'll want to do a nice sitdown meal in Portsmouth to wrap up our trip. Looks like there are quite a few good restaurants in Portsmouth....does anyone have any views on what's best?

Thanks!

Deb

We ate at PESCE BLUE last night, and we all thought the meal was excellent, as well as the service. I told my wife that it was better then any fish restaurant in Portland. It was just an amazing dinner. With drinks it came to $100 per couple, but some people got a whole fish.

Emilief is correct, IMO. The best celebratory restaurant for the Portsmouth area is Anneke Jans in Kittery, Me. Not to quibble, but it's only 10-15 minutes from Wentworth by the Sea in total. http://www.annekejans.net/

Arguably the best dinner you can have in Portsmouth is at the Black Trumpet; was extremely impressed when I went. Pesce Blue is also excellent.

If you are willing to travel another 20 minutes or so north, try Anneke Jans in Kittery,ME This is a very nice bistro with good food and drinks. Need a reservation

The dining room at the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel is probably the best in the area.
