I have seen threads which said Pioneer closed and opened again in May 2007. I have heard more recently that it was closed again. Telephone message confirms opening hours - but if it's open, why do I get the message?
Does anyone know whether the bar is currently open? Thanks.

I don't know if you saw this but it was on Eater on July 9. I haven't seen or heard anything more recent:
Good News: Regarding Pioneer Bar, please adjust your registers: "New owners are taking over the Pioneer bar in Red Hook and all should be finalized by the end of next week. Some renovations permitting, it should be open as the same ol' Pioneer BBQ within the next couple of weeks. So there's no need to worry!! :-)." Exhale. [EaterWire Inbox]

Eater is reporting today that it has been sold and will become a French Bistro. From that post--
