Raw Bar? Isle of Palms-Charleston, SC Area

I am looking for a slam-dunk great raw oyster place in the Isle of Palms area. "Raw" is the key (next I'll be looking for a good hepatologist).

Is there anything noteworthy in the IOP, Sullivan's Island, Mt. Pleasant area? Is the Shem Creek Bar & Grill worth the hype? I am more than up for heading into Charleston as I have been curious about Pearlz; however, I do not want to miss a hidden raw gem along the way.

Please help me feed this risky yet delightful addiction.

  1. I like Shem Creek Bar and Grill - good food but not fancy, good service, and a nice patio overlooking the creek. (If they've trimmed the myrtles next to the railing you get a good view!)

But most folks around here don't do raw oysters in the summer. Might want to wait until the weather cools down a little. Like - October.

    1. My husband and I stopped in at Pearlz before heading to another restaurant on East Bay. I had a sunset martini, they have a long list of those! It was good. My husband had a crown and coke. While we sipped, we ordered a dozen oysters, steamed. To be honest, it was good, but nothing more. The bartender was nice, though.
