Pacific Northwest Hounds exploring Lanaudiere and Montreal [Moved from Canada board]

Hello,
Two couples from Oregon are heading to Lanaudiere and Montreal driving from Portland, Maine. We are all very adventuresome eaters and would love some suggestions for local spots not to miss. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
salemjan

If you like beer you should definitely check out the tasting room of L'alchemiste (a local microbrewery, and one of my favorites) It is located in dowtown joliette at 536 Manseau.

Hiya, can you be any more specific about where you'll be staying and what kind of food/ambiance/price ranges you're looking for? Lanaudière is a large region, and Montreal has hundreds of restaurants to choose from! A little help narrowing down the options might get you more responses. :-)

We are doing a home exchange with a couple who live in a small village outside of Joilette...I can't remember the name right now. We are adventurous eaters...love ethnic food and fresh food. Our price range is open, but probably more to the moderate end. One over-the-top dinner would be great, but more recommendations in the moderate range. I'll check with our friends for the exact name of the village and get back to you, okay? Thanks for your help!

I have some more information! We are staying in a small village called Saint-Ambroise de Kildare. Does that help narrow down the search? Thank you VERY much for any help you can give us!

You might have to travel to Montreal for fine dining as Joliette is not exactly a foodie destination. You might want to take a drive to Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson to dine at Bistro à Champlain. Good french food and one of the best wine list in Quebec. It's been a Wine Spectator grand award for quite some years. http://www.bistroachamplain.com/

Thanks for the recommendation. How far is Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson from Sainte-Ambroise de Kildare? The menu looks great! Would you consider it on the expensive side? I saw no prices on the menu.

              Thanks again,

It's 53 km on country roads so I'd guess about 45 mins. As for prices, I do believe it's on the pricey side of things but the wine cellar is spectacular.
