Large Group, SF, Somewhat Casual

nsheth Jul 25, 2007 07:19 PM

Trying to put together a simple group dinner that's gotten a little larger than I had hoped for (looking at 12-15 people now), for next Sat.

Little Star would have been nice, but, alas, they don't take reservations. Something like Suppenkuche might have worked, but I'm looking for something a little more vegetarian-friendly.

Any thoughts?

    Just as a followup -

The group ended up growing to 18, so it was tough to find a place, especially on short notice! I ended up going to Velvet Cantina in the Mission. Fun place, pretty reasonably priced, and fairly potent margaritas. Don't know if they rotate flavors, but the fruit-flavored offerings for us were pineapple, cantaloupe, and watermelon - the cantaloupe being the clear winner here, at least for me.

Food-wise, nothing spectacular, but I thought things were done well. I tried the avocado and chicken enchiladas. They were pretty tasty, with a nice spicy kick from a jalapeno cream sauce. They did seem to skimp on the avocado, however.

Overall, I was pretty satisfied. I haven't ventured too much into the sit-down Mexican in SF at this price range, as I haven't had too much luck with that, but I feel I'd return here.

Thanks for the follow-up (sorry no one replied to the original post). I'll keep this place in mind for future big groups.
