OH BOY! I work at Columbia -- and live near the one in Chelsea. Looks like my daily ritual walk to Oren's coffee is going to have competition. YUM!

Is it open for business?

no. it doesn't even look close to opening. it's all boxed in (door and windows are not visible) but there's a sign on the wall. i'll keep an eye out as i'm always up there.

Even though that storefront is on the main stretch just south of campus (and next door to the offices of the Columbia Spectator), its last two tenants fared poorly. CremaLita began sharing the space with The Original Soup Man early in 2006, and I thing the Soup Man assumed the lease outright not long after. But at least near Columbia, there's been "no soup for you" since last fall.
Too bad Pinkberry couldn't get into gear any faster; now would be the time for bang-up business.
