Restaurants for Batchelorette Party!
I'm trying to plan a fun (yet, think opposite of Dick's last resort) dinner for a friend whose getting married. We are all in our late 20's, so was thinking of either Eastern Standard or Mesa in the south end, but i'm worried these aren't "fun" enough.
Can anyone suggest some tasty places for a large group?
My friends and I started the night out for my bachelorette party a few years ago with dinner at Saint on Exeter Street. The "small plates" (one of my fav types of menu - ergo my CH moniker) on renowned chef Rene Michalena's menu are varied and delcious. The melting shortribs are his signature. Anyway, the food is really tasty, and the small plates are suited to a group of ladies gathered for the dual purpose of nibbling and celebrating. I don't know how the crowd has held up over the years since I have been to Saint - I know friends of mine for the most part have moved on to other social outlets - so I cannot speak to that. I only know that my event there was completely fun, great food, excellent cocktails, clubby ambience (get the communal table) and great music. Beware that if you stay once the crowd starts to amass, the music is loud. But I would make the call that it is a good first stop. You might also reserve one of the other rooms if your group is large enough. Another idea - an updated version of Saint - is Foundation Lounge. Small plates (Zensai - Japanese appetizers) and a clubby, fun atmosphere. The same problem as Saint though, in that it gets louder as it gets later. Food is pretty good, but not as good as at Saint. Have fun!!!
I recently had my bachelor party dinner at ESK and it went really well. Staff was extremely accomodating and we were even comped a few rounds of drinks, which was awesome because of their top-notch bartending. If you do go there see if you can get the private room in the back; we were seated in the middle of the dining area and as you can probably imagine, the 12 of us got to be a bit much for people having "normal" dinners as the night went on...
