I'll be vising family in Huntsville for a week in August, and I'd love some tips on finding some local places to eat. After visiting off and on for the last decade, I've only seen the same few local places and some chain restaurants. I need a change! We've eaten at the same Chinese buffet for the last 4 trips I've made and I don't think I can handle it again.

I'm particularly interested in ethnic style foods but I'd also love to hear about mom & pop style diners. I'd also like suggestions for coffee shops that support free wifi and don't mind people hanging out for a couple of hours.

Oh, I don't need BBQ recommendations, the board is already full of those. Thanks!

Hi orchidarts! Hope you haven't already made your Huntsville trip and had to eat at that same Chinese buffet. Here are a few options for your trip:

Vinnie's off Jordan Lane has a good Indian lunch buffet
Po Boy Factory on Andrew Jackson is good for its namesake and other related food
Chef's Table on Cecil Ashburn Drive is good for tapas
Mullins on Andrew Jackson is a very Huntsville meat & 3
There are a couple of coffee shops with wireless--one is in Hampton Cove (intersection of 431 and old hwy 431 (don't remember the name, but it is in the little shopping center there and should be easy to find). There is another one on South Parkway near Byrd Spring Road with an orange building that advertises free wireless. And of course, there's always Starbucks in the Barnes and Noble stores scattered around town. Hope you have a good stay!
