Vegan bakeries -- no West side

Hi Guys,

Do any of you know of vegan bakeries in Glendale/Burbank/Pasadena/Eagle Rock? I searched but could not find. Valley is fine, too. I just don't want to schlep to the West side.

  1. You can get Vegan baked goods at Whole Foods markets, as well as at Follow your Heart in Canoga Park. However, they are usually not in-hoiuse baked (some are)

At FYH, you can get some vegan baked stuff in the Cafe.

Leda's Bake Shop in Sherman Oaks now makes a few vegan items, I think.

      1. Sweet Debbie's Organics deliver, and will do all their goods vegan... http://www.sweetdebbiesorganiccupcake...
        They're really great too, IMHO.

        Definitely Leda's!

Not vegan "bakeries," but you could see what desserts are available at Madeleine Bistro, HealthyCa, Leaf Cuisine, Orean's Health Express (cobbler!), Oh Happy Day's Cafe and Grocery, The Good Earth, The Natural Gourmet, Hugo's,

Thanks so much, guys. I have been wanting to go to both Mcafe and Madeleine Bistro, so now I have an excuse!

        2. I don't know if it counts as the west side, but IMO, Mani's is your best bet (and not too much further than some of the other places mentioned). Real Food Daily too. I lived on the east side (pasadena, los feliz, echo park, etc.) for a number of years, and I've never heard of any vegan bakeries. Maybe Flore (vegan place started by the oirginal owner of Tierra Cafe downtown) will have some baked goods when / if they finally open.

Their hours are strange, and I'm boycotting them now that they canceled brunch (boohoo), but Fatty's in Eagle Rock used to have some vegan desserts - might be worth checking them out.

If you're looking for cakes / cupcakes for special occasions, I heard something about a woman in that area (I think her name is Shae or Shea) who does baking and caters to special diets, but I don't have any more information; I can try to get it if that's what you're looking for.

There is Sesame Donut in Glendale, which for a long time was reputed to be vegan, but unfortunately, that isn't really true... they admitted that while they don't add eggs or dairy to most of their doughnuts, that they didn't know about the "flour" (i.e., the baking mix); several people checked out the brands they were using, and apparently they all contained egg and dairy products. Oh how I long for a vegan donut shop and vegan cinnamon rolls (M Cafe's are pretty good but I'm talking about less-healthy-tasting ones)

If only we can convince Sticky Fingers ( to open up in LA!

          1. I heard that a Baby Cakes NYC is supposed to be opening on Beverly Blvd. soon!
            VERY EXCITED!
Also Intelligentsia in Silverlake is now carrying Dee's Vegan Donuts! Sooo Yummy.
