I've tried most of those available...Lobel's, Allen Bros., Niman Ranch, and Harris Ranch.
All pretty good...Just heard of Ottamanelli's. Anyone tried it?
Please don't even mention Omaha; they are not up to supermarket fare.

Naturally, I recommend the porterhouse. Although with the shortage of Prime meat available right now, you may be put on backorder.

If not a local butcher, you might check out Whole Foods. They carried aged prime, at least I've seen it. Perhaps it's different in FL but Costco carries very good choice beef. You have to buy 3-4 steaks at once but it's good and priced very reasonable.

You can also try eatwild.com. Most of the producers sell beef by the quarter, half, or whole, but some of them will sell you individual steaks (and ship them).

Slate magazine had a mail-order steak tasting, and a ribeye from Alderspring won, with loads of compliments. After that article they sold out, and I had to get on a waiting list to order any (limit 2 prcustomer). They are on their way so I haven't tasted them yet.

I have been very satisfied with ribeyes from Tallgrass. Very juicy, lots of flavor.

Both these outfits sell nothing but grass-fed beef, with no hormones and antibiotics.

Stock Yards Steaks are excellent and a good value in comparison to the other heavy hitters. Less expensive than Lobel's and Luger's, somewhat more than Allen Bros. I first had their beef at the 801 Steak and Chop House in Des Moines and it reminded me why a bone-in rib steak is simply one of life's greatest pleasures.

Have you considered checking out any of the wholesale/restaurant butcher sources in your area? Thank goodness, here in Ohio, there is plenty of good beef. But..we always buy rib steaks from such a vendor who does a twice yearly sale to the general public. Just a thought. The holiday sale is a great gift item for our friends, always a big thanks.

I agree with SWSIDEJIM - Allen Brothers. I have tried most of the others and AB is the one I come back to. If you are going to use them right away, get the never frozen. If not, I have used the frozen ones after six months in the freezer and they were as good as, prime or Greg Norman from my best local butcher - Jimmy P's in Naples.
