Does anyone know the name of the hole in the wall taqueria located right next to the Subway on Mission Street in Santa Cruz? I love their Burrito Al Pastor.

I believe that's one of two locations of Taqueria Santa Cruz. Being an eastsider, I frequent the other one on Soquel for their al pastor tacos! Good stuff!

I just had lunch there yesterday. A carnitas burrito that was excellent. I really like the salsa bar too and will be back!

Is this the best taqueria in Santa Cruz or surroundings? I'll be there on a work trip next week and would like to find a good, fast Mexican place.

For tacos, I prefer La Cabana which is just half a block down Mission on the other side of the street. I really like their fish, shrimp, carnitas and cabeza tacos. I'm fairly picky about carnitas, and this is one of the best places to get it that I've ever frequented. On their worst day, it's still decent and worth eating. On their best day (maybe once every three or four visits), it's world-class. Virtually perfect. Their cabeza has an unbelieveably deep beef flavor and has never ever disappointed me.
