Everytime I am at a food store, I find myself looking at all the jarred goodies, anything from veggies to condiments/sauces. I spend so much money on these products only to find some of them disappointing....

I am specifically interested in finding good marinated mushrooms, eggplants, artichokes, onions and olives......or other yummy spreads/dips. I have tried some of the summer fresh dips and so far artichoke and asiago is the winner. Yum.

I, too, am pretty much always disappointed in jarred "stuff." My favorites are black bean dip made by a company whose name is not coming to me. I will go look. I love homeade salsa, but Tostitos HOT chunky salsa with chips is one of my favorite snacks.

I prefer to make it all myself - and the bonus is I eat it all without a leftover crusty jar sitting in my fridge a year from now :)

I've been on a recent kick for Wickles Pickles (both sweet and spicy). A friend brought them to us when we threw a BBQ. I think they're out of Alabama (her home state) but she found them here in Austin. I ate the whole jar in a matter of days without even noticing and need to search them out again.

Artichokes, marinated, come to mind...Second the "Wickles" nomination...There are some very good relishes out there...Central Market in Texas sells a great carrot/jalapeno one...Chutneys rarely disappoint...We have a great assortments of "chow-chow" as well..Also, spiced peaches are very delicious...There are a lot of great "jarred" foods out there, but honestly, the good ones are usually a bit expensive...

Count me as another Yankee who loves pickled okra. Can't remember the brand I get; there's only one type at my market. Ajvar is also a great dip for bread, crackers or veggies, if you can find it. Look on the back and avoid the ones that add tons of sugar -- the peppers in the dip should be naturally sweet.

Can't afford it now...and there aren't any WS stores anywhere near where I live in VT.
