local grass fed meat for sale in Providence!

Tartinet Jul 24, 2007 03:28 PM

I haven't tried the meat yet, but I just saw a sign at the Wishing Stone farmers market (Tuesdays, off Wickenden St in Providence). It said they're now selling beef and lamb from Treaty Rock Farm (I think that was the name) in Little Compton. It was $7.50 a lb. I'm trying to clean out my freezer this month, so I passed on it this time (unprecedented grocery restraint), but I can't wait to try it, and thought I'd pass on the tip.

Are there other sources of grass-fed, local meat or poultry in Providence?

Conanicut Island Grass-fed sells at the farmer's market at Casey Farm in Saunderstown on Saturdays--beef and lamb. Sometimes there's poultry, too. I believe Simmons Farm sells meat at the market in Kennedy Plaza on Fridays.
