Good downtown (Concordia) spot for a big work lunch

Hi,

I am leaving my job and my company wants to have a big work-lunch send off type thing. Though I have worked in the hood for the past 4 years, I can't really think of a nice spot that is group friendly but not cheesy.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for a tasty spot that is good for a big group (more than 20 I think?) In the Concordia downtown campus area?

A patio would be a real bonus.

  1. I think Mas des Oliviers has a private room in the back that might be big enough for you.

Thanks, but, unfortunately, my employer is the university and they are too cheap to actaully foot the bill and I am worried that that price might be too high for some. you know, I don't want ppl paying through the nose for little old me. I think $10 - $20 seems reasonable.

oh yeah, and one of my closest coworkers ONLY eats burgers. this is almost completely true. only burgers.

The lunch specials at Au Bistro Gourmet are only $9.95 including soup or salad & main. Probably no burger on the list, but there is always their grilled bavette w/fries - maybe close enough for your colleague for this special occasion. Why don't you check it out before hand and see if it would fit the bill?

      2. I had a nice group lunch at Au Bistro Gourmet at Xmas time, it's at 2100 Saint-Mathieu, near de Maisonneuve O. It was around $20.00 for lunch with with appetizer, main, coffee and dessert - traditional French & friendly service. They have a private room upstairs, no patio unfortunately.

        1. If you're looking for something cheaper, Bardecco on Lincoln has delicious pizzas, subs, and they also have burgers on the menu. Their dining room is never full since most of their business is delivery, so I'm sure theyd be able to accomodate a large group for lunch. Call in advance to check though. (514-937-1001)

          1. Bangkok 2 beside the faubourg is perfect.

            1. the new Irish pub on Bishop, The Irish Embassy, has a HUGE back patio, a front patio that probably seats 20+, and pretty good food. Great selection of beers on tap as well.

              1. I don't often read about Les Beaux Jeudis, the top floor of the Thursday's but I have had
very decent food there for a reasonable price , it is a very large bright and cheery room and could accomodate a group especially towards the back

                1. McKibbin's on Bishop has a great burger and fries with a patio in the back. Space is limited so you probably have to reserve in advance.
Also if you are so inclined, Firegrill chain has opened up a pretty big branch on Stanley below de Maisonneuve. They are still new so don't know how good they are with groups yet.....
Three Amigos on Ste Catherine in front of the Faubourg accomodates groups all the time and they have burgers, though it falls under the cheesy category.....

                  1. Thanks for all the suggestions, it looks like we are going with Au Bistro Gourmet. I looked at the menu and I am excited to see how it goes over.

I will be sure to post about it after.... if my Hamburger lover finds something to eat!
