Dinner and a Movie

  • 8

heading down to lowe's boston common tomorrow night for a movie. Want to have dinner beforehand. The past few times i've done this i've gone to silvertones, ivy, and parish cafe, just so you know my price expectations. Looking to try someplace new tomorrow. Will be under time constraints so I'd like to be within a 5-10 minute walking distance of the common. Also, two other caveats. My wife is trying to eat healthy so someplace with a decent salad selection would be great. And finally, our other companion probably wouldn't want something in chinatown. Thanks for your help!

  1. Would Thai cuisine work for all of you? If so, Montien on Stuart Street is a worthy option.

Another possibility is MJ O'Connor's in Park Plaza. They have mostly pub grub, and they also have salads; the burgers there are excellent, BTW.

I wasn't all that impressed by the burger at MJO's. Teatro, right next door, is a good option. Good Life is reasonably close as well.

    2. I loved the Intermission Cafe when I went a few months back. Good drink prices, and yummy salads. My companion had the Texas burger and it was huge and the onion rings were solid. It is technically "theater district," down Tremont Street from the Loewe's, and even though I thought it was a tourist trap from its name and location, I ended up having a great time there!

      1. Tantric is good for decent Indian in a nice atmosphere, but doesnt meet the healthy requirement.

There's a new Sushi place opening up...Exotic Sushi? Not sure if it is open yet.

Walked by there yesterday, the sushi place is not open yet. I think Montien is a good option as well as MJ O'Connors. The one time I went to Good Life I was underwhelmed, but it might be worth it to give them a try.

        2. Scolley Square (goodish pub food) or Montien (thai) might work.

          1. I'm a big fan of grabbing a bite at Teatro before a movie on the Common. It's just a few doors down from the theater. The antipasto for two is fantastic (has some healthy and some naughty items) and it's large enough that three can easily share as a hearty starter. There are plenty of healthy options on the menu.

Teatro is closed at the moment, I think it is going through an upgrade, though not sure.
