Help!! Where to eat..walking distance of Staples

cupcake Jul 23, 2007 12:58 PM

Going to American Idol concert with daughter tonight, and I don't know the area at all. The Palm is too pricey, and I don't like the Pantry. Can anyone help me? We leave at 5pm. Thanks SO MUCH in advance!!

Just keep in mind that those Staples center area blocks are long blocks.
Liberty Grill is the closest walking distance aside from the Palm, but the food IMO sucks. Yes, sucks. Big, boring, bad food.
I've also walked to Zucca for their happy hour (one block closer than Engine Co.). Small menu, decent food and a really good deal at HH prices. Or you can just eat in the restaurant. It took about 20 min. to walk there from Staples, and I'm a very fast walker (my friend was worn out, trying to keep pace with me).

I totally agree: the food at Liberty Grill sucks big time. Also agree that Zucca is best bet within walking distance.

        Liberty Grill. www.liberty-grill.com

Not the best food, but within walking distance.

Engine Co. No. 28 has valet, so after dining you could just zip on over to one of the Staples Center-designated parking lots.

At Engine Co., I recommend the southern fried chicken and the meatloaf; both of those entrees are about $19. Stay away from their soft shell crabs if they are still on special - not particularly eventful. You may need reservations.

Roy's or maybe Engine Co. 28.

Whoops, didn't see the walking distance caveat. How about the venue at the Staples Center?

I just googled Engine Co. 28, and it looks good. Do you know if it's too far to walk? I can't figure out the map. Sorry for my inability to do this. Thanks for your help.

Looks like it's only a couple of blocks from Staples. Shouldn't be too tough, especially since a lot of the street and lot parking extends in that direction already. Have fun!

Also, Engine Co. might have a shuttle service from there to Staples. You could give them a call and see if they are offering it on the night of your concert.

You can take the Dash up Fig and back. It's only $.25 each way.

It is about 4-5 blocks away. About a 15 minute walk max so definitely walkable. The walk also goes through the good part of downtown so you'll be safe.

FYI- Dash ends at 6:30PM. The one that runs along Fig that drops you off near staples is pretty infrequent.
