Berlin/ near Markisches Museum

We're staying in a lovely hotel near the Markishes Museum -- the Art'otel Mitte -- but our fabulous deal doesn't include breakfast, which is fairly expensive for a good but unspectacular buffet. Any suggestions for a good, hearty breakfast within a 10-15 minute or so walk from here? This doesn't seem like the type of neighborhood that would have anything like that, but I thought it's worth a shot.

  1. I just stayed(Luisenhof) in the same area in March. I didn't eat breakfast out - it was good, if expensive, in the hotel. There isn't a whole lot in the immediate area. Across the street from my hotel (Koepenicker Str.) near the post office there was a coffee shop -Cafe Schlemmer- that probably does some kind of breakfast. There was another coffee place near the U-Bahn stop that looked nice, but was closed for vacation. You'll probably have to cross the river where there is a bigger selection of eateries.
