Queen Makeda, open or closed?
Ate with out of town guests at Etete last night--wonderful as ever. I thought I read here that Queen Makeda was closed, but it had a big neon OPEN sign across the street. Maybe it is just open as a nightclub now, or do they still serve Ethiopian food?
I was on my way to Etete on Friday night when I was totally shocked to see Queen Makeda, repainted bright green and open. I though that there was no way it would be the same people, but it is (they've been doing catering all this time). The food is served in bowls, home style, and it's clearly better than all others, except for Etete. It will vie with Etete as the area's best. It is completely redecorated and looks awesome, no longer a dive. Prices have gone up too. No more ten dollar feasts, I'm afraid. But at least now you can see what you're eating.
Good to hear that Etete has not gone downhill and that negative reports were likely an aberration.
