I find it hard to believe you can't find it in China town. I have bought it from Oriental harvest before and from a couple places in Kensington.

Do you know exactly what you're looking for? It is sold as a hard puck-like disc that has to be broken up at home. Maybe you're just missing it in the store?

I have also picked some up from T&T on occasion.

Not sure, but most Indian Grocery stores carry a hard sugarthat you have to break up, kind of a dull golden colour, may be Palm Sugar???

How is that possible when then only ship cookware to Canada, and non-food related products?

you can also buy it at some latino stores. if it's still there, mario's latin video (bloor/palmerston) used to stock it.

I've never not seen it at a grocery store in Chinatown, although sometimes it's in strange, unintuitive places.

                  Thanks for the tips!

I found some Coconut Palm Sugar (Hockey Puck Style) at Soon Lee Supermarket at Kennedy and Eglington.

I would still like to find some Sugar Palm Sugar (not a typo... Sand Castle Style)... so I am gonna check out the recommended spots... and will report back!

                  Thanks again!

I buy it at Ranch 99

                    They have all sorts.

Which is great... but Ranch 99 is in California and this thread is about Toronto. But the closest equivalent up here is T&T (which according to my mother, who visited recently, puts Ranch 99 to shame).

I've seen T&T mentioned on here a bunch of times... but paid no attention as I thought it was just another big box grocery. I checked out their website and am intrigued... so a visit is in order. But I will probably wait till August 23 when FYI...

A new T&T is opening in Downtown Toronto @ 222 Cherry Street Toronto, ON M5A 3L2

Yes, several downtown hounds are eagerly awaiting that opening! And you should definitely pay a visit at your first opportunity. It's quite the place. I'm serious, my mother was goggle eyed and swooning at every turn, particularly over the prepared foods. Saw stuff that she hasn't eaten since she was a child in Taiwan.

I get my palm sugar in Little India. Most of the grocery stores in the strip along Gerrard just west of Coxwell stock it. Hope that helps.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the types of sugar available at the no frills on blackcreek & eglinton- and remembered this post!
