Best wine of the month club?

I'm looking to get a half a year wine of the month club as a wedding present... I'm curious if anyone would be willing to advise me on which wine of the month club has the best wine. Appreciate it.

I hope this is the right area for this type of question... I know chowhound had a wine of the month club in a recent "presents" column, and that looked good--if anyone doesn't have any other ideas. Okay that's it =] (this is my second post, btw!)

It really depends upon the wines that the bride and groom like . . . .but I'd look at K&L Wine Merchants, The Spanish Table, and/or Vintage Berkeley/Solano Cellars.

I am interested in doing the same (for myself!) and checked out these recs. Problem is they don't ship to PA which is where I am. Any suggestions for a wine of the month club that does deliver to PA? What with PA's totally arcane LCB laws this might be kind of tricky. Thanks!

There are none that do -- it's the laws of Pennsylvania that are the problem. They prohibit direct shipments of wine to an individual from out-of-state.

But then again, as I've said before, I'm not the biggest fan of these "wine(s)-of-the-month club" annyway -- but that's me. YMMV.

KL wines is quite good because their wines are normally very very well priced. You don't want to join a wine club that their wines in store are generally more expensive because such costs end up being forced upon you at the wine club.

If I was going to join a wine club, it would be K&L

Several of my relatives get monthly wine deliveries from purevinewines.com which mainly focuses on smaller production natural wines. They describe the wines quite well in the monthly newsletter and always teach something useful about the region, varietal, or style of winemaking.
