Cooking in Cancun

My family is going to Cancun in mid-August, and I would like to cook a few delicious meals while we are there rather than going out every night. Where can one find fresh fish, produce, and other high-quality ingredients.

  1. When I lived in Playa del Carmen we had to go to Cancun for groceries. Chedraui and the Comercial Mexicana are pretty close together and between them have most items: meat, produce, cheese, chili pastes, corn and wheat products, chicken. Fish is sporadic but can be very good. About one trip in three I could buy fresh boquinette.
When you are value-pricing shrimp there, remember they all have the heads on!

Postscript: If you will have a car there, great. If not, the collectivos and taxis are very convenient. Both stores have taxi stands to take you back. Nice that you have a place with a kitchen- buen provecho!
