I have never been to Mercato, but Melograno is awesome. Cool ambviance, but no reservations. It is on 22nd and Spruce.

    2. My first choice would be Radicchio--BYOB, no reservations, but if you get there before 7, that shouldn't be a problem. They have a few sidewalk tables, too. Other good places are La Viola, Caffe Casta Diva, Melograno, Branzino, Locanda Ghittone, all BYOB. If you can get to Northern Liberties and call for a reservation right now, you might be able to get into Sovalo, which is wonderful. They have a liquor license.

      1. Almost forgot--for a bistro type place, non-Italian, Chloe is great. BYO, no reservations. There's also Valanni, which has sidewalk tables and serves spirits.
