Late night dinner options in Union Square/Chinatown area & great lunch near Moscone Center? Help!

I'm coming to visit from NY for a 5 nights in August. I've been figuring out most places for us to go based on similar previous posts (although I might still ask for a once over when things are more firmed up). There are two things in particular that I'd like some help with. Our flight lands around 10:30 on Thursday Aug 16-- I'm assuming we won't be downtown with our things dropped off until much before 11:30. We're doing a housing swap and staying at someone's place in Chinatown/Financial district. While we might be too tired from traveling to do much, if we wanted to have a casual late night light dinner/drink in the area (or not too far from there) what would be recommended? Maybe even something with an outdoor/patio area to breathe some good clean air after hours on the plane?

The next day I will have a two hour break between sessions for the conference I am attending at the Moscone Center. Where would you recommend going for lunch?

My impression is that we are staying in a bit of the touristy area (convenience for the conference) but my hope/assumption is that other areas should be pretty easy to get to from there. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated... I'm trying to avoid redundancy as much as possible. Thanks!!

  1. Sitting outside late at night to "breathe some good clean air" might sound fine elsewhere, but odds are that in mid-August it's going to be really foggy and really cold close to midnight. Bring your winter coat!

There's also very little that stays open late in the Financial District. You'll find most places closed on the weekend. There are however places open late in Chinatown - maybe someone else can chime in.

Globe is open late, has really solid food and should be near you

Near Moscone for lunch you have Coco500, Oola, South Park Cafe, The Butler and The Chef, B Restaurant and Bar, Koh Sui Mui and the Monkey

I'd hit Globe for your late night, Coco500 for lunch, and B Restaurant and Bar for happy hour. B has outdoor seating if the weather is nice.

Thanks for the mention of it being cold, hadn't really thought of that. Would love to hear about some late night Chinatown options...
