NYT's Plum Torte

Epicurious says that it was the NYT's most requested recipe.. finally they printed it some years back and said "this is it - no reprints anymore!"
Just a very simple cake, topped with fresh sliced plums and baked. So deliciously simply summer.
That is very similar to a hungarian plum cake - which is a rich yeast dough topped with sliced plums cut side up, then sprinkled with cinnamon, sugar and butter.
The plums juice blends with the toppings and becomes crunchy, jammy, just plain yummy.
That said, the NYT's recipe looks mighty interesting as well!
