Any good fish tacos in LA??

Best fish tacos I've ever had was in a small hole in the wall joint in Cabo San Lucas. I'm looking for fish tacos that use the battered fried fish instead of the grilled fish. Haven't had too much luck finding really excellent fish tacos in LA (and by LA, i don't mean Long Beach, Torrance, El Monte, etc...)

Closest thing I've had to the cabo fish tacos around here was Las Estrellas in Pasadena, but even that's too far for me to go just for fish tacos.

I'm not a big fish taco aficionado, but you can try Wahoo's Fish Tacos in Pasadena or Brentwood. It's more of Hawaiian twist than Mexican but it's worth a try.

If you're on the westside there's a small taco place (sorry can't remember the name) in Santa Monica on Main street near Ocean Park Blvd. They have the crispy fried fish tacos and they are pretty authentic. Rubios Tacos is always a good quick fix. Marisco De Reyes in Montebello on Whittier Blvd is great if you're in that part of town.

Locally, Senor Fish or El Siete Mares in Silver Lake (the stand not the sitdown restauarant next door). But they make shrimp tacos which are good too. But don't bother with their ceviche, it's a nasty, watery and gross mess.

Siete Mares is a very fine neighborhood standby. I think that their calamar tacos are better than the shrimp or fish - but you have to get lucky and not get the battery dregs. I've had 3 and 2 have been amazing. I'm pretty excited about trying the new place on Hillhurst though.

I've tried El Siete Mares 3 times. And while it's decent, it's still lacking in taste. Maybe their shrimp or calamari is better.

My favorite beer-battered fish tacos are at Duke's in Malibu on PCH. On Tuesdays, each are $2! Really big pieces of fish that aren't too greasy, fresh vegetables, perfect~

...with different recipes for the fish. El Taco Nazo is a lighter batter, more like tempura. Senor Baja is a deep brown batter and it's smooth, not craggy like tempura.

I like ETN a little better... but either will do in a pinch.

I am quite fond of Senor Fish. They do two types of battered fish tacos, regular and Ensenada style (with guacamole), as well as battered shrimp and scallop tacos. They have several locations, downtown at 1st and Alameda, and in South Pasadena on Mission St.

If you're asking for the hours for Best Fish Taco in Ensenada, it just opened, so they are still getting things going. He said that he plans to open 7 days a week 11-7 and is considering opening later at night for when the clubs get out. I don't know if they have a phone yet...
Also, it's worth noting that this is a slightly different style -- the breading is very minimal compared to Senor Fish -- which seems like a good thing to me, but YMMV.

Thanks, that's nearby and I never tried that. But it's actually Los Feliz, not Silver Lake.
