Dining out for cheap with 5 kids in Destin??!!

My family and I are leaving for Destin in a few weeks and we have 3 children under 10 and twin 1 year olds. I have read a lot about the "tourist trap" restaurants and I definitely would like to avoid those if at all possible. Anybody got any suggestions? We are only going to go out a couple times the whole week and we are thinking that doing lunch will be cheaper. Other than that, we will be cooking in our condo.

I did see the suggestion of grabbing food to go and eating a picnic on the beach....nice!

So, if anyone can throw me a bone here, I'd appreciate it!!! I love seafood, but I can't see us eating out at dinner for $100!!

Thanks a bunch!!

Your instinct is correct - cheap dinner for 5 - not easy. But there are some nice lunch options - Dewey Destin's for lunch al fresco, Harbor Docks does a nice lunch at a very fair price and their breakfast is awesome and cheaper than Donut Hole; Fabrice's for lunch is a great value for great food, though the menu is small. If your family likes Mexican food - Destin Taqueria is awesome, authentic cheap eats even for dinner. Smiling Fish Cafe on Rt 30A is a great and not expensive lunch spot. Finally, Blue Orleans, on 30A, for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner is extremely reasonable and very good - and Gator will treat your family like his family!
