Where can I buy Rockfish in Rhode Island?

My husband and I vacationed in Delaware last week. We fell in love with a Rockfish entree. I found a similar recipe online and can't wait to try it out. The only problem is that I can't seem to find Rockfish. Typically, I don't eat seafood, so I don't even know where to look. I have already tried East Side Market and Whole Foods but they did not have it. Can anyone recommend a seafood market that may have it?

  1. Try Anthony's Seafood on Aquidneck Ave. Middletown. I don't really know but I think Rockfish might be generic for a group of fish. Anthony's is a good place to start

    1. Rockfish is what the rest of the Eastern seaboard, other than those on the Del-Mar-Va peninsula, refer to, correctly, as Striped Bass. Marone saxtilis are also, less commonly, known as line-siders, fwiw.

commercial season just opened in MA, i don't think there is a commerical season in RI. you may be able to find MA striped bass available locally for a short time.

Good point. and CT. definitely doesn't have a commercial season.

      2. Sarahbeth: Just curious, where did you have that rockfish in Delaware? I'm a native of RI, but we live in VA and also vacation in Delaware, at Rehoboth Beach. We're always looking for good seafood.
