Butchers & Fishmarkets

mariekeac Jul 18, 2007 03:47 PM

My Hubbie & I used to always got to Palladio's in Boca Raton for the Best Fish (freshest you'll ever find) and for specialty order of meat. Unfortunately they closed down... :(
We went to Kings & Whole Foods but weren't very impressed with their fishes....
Does anybody know about any good fishmarkets in the Delray / Boca area (or further away, fine too!) and any butchers for specialty meats?!
Thanx so much!!! I know it's not a restaurant question, but it's about Chow right...?!

there is a fishmarket on the corner of jog and atlantic called Kingspoint fishmarket. I havent been in though.

isn't there a fishmarket on Dixie in Delray/Boca near Jeffrey Street? I have passed it many times again I haven't been in.

I am not crazy about the Meating Place. It is overpriced and nothing special. found the Boys meat to be the best so far.

Try The Boys farmers market in Delray beach, on Military Trail just north of Atlantic. Great fresh seafood and excellent produce as well.

Yeah, I miss Palladio too. For seafood try Pop's (131 W. Hillsboro Blvd. Deerfield Beach 954-427-1331) They were picked "best seafood" by the New Times http://www.browardpalmbeach.com/bestof/award.php?award=287671

I know some friends that swear by the Meating Place in Boca (368-1191, 277 E Palmetto Park Rd) but my wife and I prefer Mario's in Delray (499-7019, 14530 Military Trail just north of Atlantic.) It's a real Italian-American butcher shop.

If you're looking for great sausages and other specialty items, go south to Emil's European Sausage Kitchen (954-942-3944, 1384 S. Federal Highway, Pompano Beach, http://european-sausage.com ) They have a great selection, their meats are top quality, and Walter and Julia are good people.

Palladio was excellent for fish. Now that it's closed I usually go to Old Dixie Seafood which is on Dixie Hwy a mile or so north of Yamato.

The only butcher I know of is the Meating Place. I think there are two locations, both in Boca. The meats are reliably good and the men behind the counter are helpful as long as you don't have to special order something.

In Coral Springs..I know they supply many of the local restaurants. If you want something specific you can call them and they will get it for you.
              All Seas Seafood
              7830 Wiles Rd
              Coral Springs, FL 33067
              (954) 346-3474

Also, in many of the Doris Markets they have a Fish Peddler vendor. The original Fish Peddler is down in Sunrise off University and 44th (south of Comercial-north of Oakland)

My favorite butcher is DelPresto, Atlantic Blvd and 441 in Margate. They will cut whatever you want. I usually call my order in advance. Their porterhouse steaks and italian sausage are awesome! 954-972-4020
