Please let me know where to find 2 kinds - 1. thick-cut beer battered and 2. thin shaved deep fried onion rings.

Can't wait to hear the replies, but I will put a word in for the thick-cut at Taylor's Refresher!

The thin shaved ones at the Buckhorn Grill (at Metreon) are great when freshly done. Unfortunately, they're not made to order, so you just have to get them when a new batch comes out.

I know it's not SF but the onion strings at the Buckeye just across the GG Bridge are great; their whole menu is excellent.

I don't know if they're the best, but I recently had dinner at Acme Chophouse - they have the thin shaved style onion rings, I thought they were pretty good.
