New Orleans Seafood & Steakhouse
We finally tried this little spot out last night and it is our new little hidden GEM in the city's Westend.
Last night's specials were: Chilean Sea Bass, Grouper, Sea Scallops, Cajun Mussels, Certified Black Angus Beef Tenderloin and Rib Eye.
For apps, I had the Gumbo Ya-Ya soup and boy was it ever tasty and with a wonderful kick! Bits of deliciously flavourful smoked Kielbasa, chicken and rice.
My husband had the Caesar salad. No croutons or bacon, but he enjoyed it immensely. The dressing was home-made and full of garlic!
For mains, I had the Blackened Cajun Chicken breast, which came with rice and a nice assortment of grilled veggies.
My husband had the New Orleans Steak, which was at least 10 oz. It also came with a grilled veggies and a small potato.
For desserts, I had the Bananas Foster and wow, was I ever pleased! One banana sliced in two, flambeed in Rum and served alongside a nice scoop of Vanilla ice cream.
My husband had the Pecan Pie, which was warmed up for him. Nice, nice, nice!
We also had a half-litre of Citra Montepulciano D'Abruzzo, a bottle of San Pellegrino and I finished off with an Espresso (which they make as a double!).
After all this, we came out to $130 with taxes and tip included.
A few further things to add: service is impecabble.
The owner, Mike, came around after each course asking how everything was. Presentation was also beautiful, with all sorts of extra little garnishments.
Before leaving, Mike came over to us and gave us each a little digestif of Hazelnut Liquor and Creme de Menthe. Wonderful added touch!!!!!
Although the room is small, after all it is only one room, it is a very cozy and romantic spot. I hope others try this place out!
For reference, I've added a link from a review done in The Star.
This is a great little place and we will be back very soon!
