Shopsin's at Essex Street is open now

I'd always been reluctant to go to their former locations because I thought the food wouldn't be that good unless you ordered just the right thing out of hundreds of items. But I had a very pleasant lunch there today, and found their shorter menu to be kind of delightful. Only a couple of things made me feel a bit uneasy... (although I probably would end up liking the macaroni and cheese pancakes. )

The aebleskivers were very good, and that was the first time I'd had them. --I'm so glad I don't have to go to Solveng now. Also, everyone was really nice and not scary at all.

Mac and Cheese pancakes are my favorite thing they have. There's one called the Kathy or something like that... it's mac and cheese pancakes with raspberries, it's even better.
