Where Can I Find Marzipan Pears?
Does anyone know where I could buy green marzipan pears? I only need 9 or so for a wedding cake. Suggestions for both local stores and online sources are appreciated.
Thanks!

I thought I saw them at Dean and Deluca in Napa.

Draegers may have them, San Mateo anyway.

Draeger's San Mateo does have them, along with green pears made of jelly - really cute!

try calling the California Culinary Academy -- ask someone in the baking and pastry program for a source (or maybe you could find a student who'd make them for you for the experience?) I've also called Masse's in Berkeley when I had a 'frosting issue' once -- they were a little thrown at first that I called for advice on a broken frosting, but cheerfully helped me out with some advice.

I found Marzipan shapes at Cost Plus before. They had pears (like 4-5 in a pack), other fruits, little piggies, bar of plain ole marzipan, lil' cars... etc.

I saw one marzipan pear and some marzipan strawberries in a plastic case at the 4th St. Pasta Shop in Berkeley. It wasn't green but you could find out who supplies them.

Try Miette's candy store in Hayes Valley. Last time I went in they has a variety of marzipan fruits in thier case. I bet they'd order them for you if you can wait...
