L2M> Chipotle is Coming to NMiami
http://miami.craigslist.org/fbh/36748...
Lax2Mia - we have been stalking the strip mall up on Biscayne Blvd near Total Wine all summer long and were a little distressed to see the windows boarded up recently. After months of a little canvas temporary sign roped up to the facade, there seemed to be no progress in the development of the site for a working restaurant.
Recently, AdvisorBoy pointed out the more permanent installation of a light up sign (and the lack of window glass).
Then on July 4th weekend, they announced they were on site hiring.
So it looks like the burritos as big as your head will shortly be available to bust your bellies in North Miami... 14776 Biscayne Blvd. North Miami Beach, FL 33181
BTW> The NEXT one will open on Kendall Drive for those of you living further South of the border.

Has it come to this? We are excited about Chipoltle? The restaurant is not that great, but given the options I've found myself driving by to see if it is open yet. I must be a Miamian now because I am excited about the opening of a very mediocre chain. Going to LA this weekend and can't wait for the food (LAX, think El Tepeyac for Burritos the size of a baby!)
AG....Burrito Grill is closed.

re: scscr
Is it a chain, yes. Would I call it very mediocre, no. Would I call it better than most chains, yes. Would I be this excited had I moved to MIA after Chipotle had begun its expansion into CA, no. Am I excited nonetheless, yes.
SC - think of it this way, remember when Versailles (the Venice Blvd version) began expanding and people were excited when one was opening near them? To me, it's some of the worst Cuban food around but Angelenos for some reason love it. I know it's not an exact parallel, but you get the point? Also, El Tepeyac was a mainstay for me in college, but I haven't been back since. Still the same I'm sure.

Don't forget about Burrito Loco in downtown, Orale in Coral Gables, and I think Honduras Maya deserves a mention for their baleadas.

re: advisor_Girl
Has anyone seen any signs of the resurfacing of Arturo from the late Taco Max (used to be on Biscayne just N of 79th St)? Fantastic tacos but the location was pretty tough and he closed up about 2-3 months ago. Last time I was in there, he mentioned that he was looking at space around the Design District, but haven't seen or heard anything.

re: advisor_Girl
No... Burrito Loco is a sit down restaurant full of the typical Tex-Mex decoration in downtown. It's located at:
190 Se 1st Ave
Miami, FL 33131
(305) 374-7005Call before you go to make sure it is open. I had only been there once, but when I went, I thought it was good - especially their salsa for the nachos which is made fresh. I hope the place offers good food consistently.
By the way, what's the 99 cents taco place on Miami Ave or the other one 2 blocks near the new court house? Are they any good?

Don't leave off Cheen-Huaye, right along the same strip as where Chipotle is going in. The sopa de lima is fantastic, and a darn good cochinita pibil too.
