1 night in town - looking for 1 good dinner

YoccosFan Jul 16, 2007 07:09 PM

I am going to be in Chicago for my first time on August 1st. I'll be staying at the Embassy Suites on 600 North State Street in Chicago. I am looking for a great restaurant, within walking distance, with entrees under $20 for an early dinner at around 4:30-5:00pm. I would prefer an italian restaurant but would also be willing to go to a steakhouse. Please let me know of any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

    Italian options:

    - Cafe Spiaggia - this might strain your budget a little, but the food is wonderful.
    - Coco Pazzo - very good Northern Italian food, including great homemade pastas.
    - Osteria Via Stato - (in your hotel). Good food, but I enjoy it more with a group ordering the $35 prix fixe, where all of the appetizers and pastas come family style, then each person orders their own entree.
    - Quartino's - small plate Italian across the street from your hotel. The food is good, but not great. If you go, I would recommend sitting outside, it gets very loud inside.

Thanks very much SuzMiCo. I really appreciate the input. I will check out one of those places and will be sure to report back after my trip.

Just wanted to give an update.

We ended up going to Quartino's and thought it was very good. The location was great and the food was excellent. We ordered salads which were excellent and had Veal Milanese and Sausage Risotto as entrees. Everything was terrific. Thanks for the recommendation.
